Breaking Away From Ordinary

About

What do you say when a ghost asks for help?  What do you do when you’re attacked by a wolf, or run over by a sea lion? You write about it!  Meet Serena Dracis, former exotic animal trainer, now a budding best-selling author.  Serena writes paranormal romance, sci-fi/fantasy and non-fiction accounts of her personal paranormal adventures.

In her first career, Serena trained wolves, sea lions, cheetahs, hawks, and many others, even a porcupine.  Who knew you could be blissfully happy when you’re up to your elbows in frozen fish or scooping poop?  Squidly kisses from sea lions, raising a wolf pup, and cheetah cuddling made all the hard physical labor worth every minute.  The years she spent in daily contact with these amazing animals left within her an ineradicable love and respect for them, and the natural world. They were her teachers and it was her privilege to be their caretaker.

Serena grew up in a house that had a ghostly resident, and has always had the ability to see and communicate with beings on the other side.  Working with animals, and the connection this fostered with the natural world enhanced her native skills.  Exploring metaphysics, meditation, and natural and alternative healing modalities has given her a deeper appreciation for and skill in her unique abilities.  While training in Reiki, Serena learned she is a psychopomp, one who helps release Earthbound spirits.  Growing and learning how to understand this gift has been a deeply enriching experience, and she is now a Reiki Master/Teacher.  Serena’s blog contains details of her own personal experiences with disembodied spirits, and her process of developing her gifts.

A life-long book lover, Serena is now working hard at developing her third career, best-selling author.  Her close connection to the wolves she trained gave her a deep understanding of these beautiful, mysterious creatures.  She has just finished her first novel, Becoming Pack; a tale of werewolves like you’ve never seen them before.  In Becoming Pack, find out what happens under a full moon when smart, sassy environmental attorney Alisa Nelson is Bitten by gorgeous, golden Geremy, a breathless hunk with a beastly secret. Alisa gets dragged kicking and screaming into a dark and magical world of werewolves, astral realms and soul-eating demons.

Serena Dracis is now developing her second novel, The Dragon’s Lover.  Updates soon on Becoming Pack!

I have spent a good part of my day reading through your blog. I found you through comments on another blog about writing. You did her blog training class, I think. Anyways, I have really enjoyed reading what you have written. By the way that non-fan you mentioned under the Trolls post, should spend the night in the Macy’s store in Walla Walla WA. He might change his mind. I use to close the store with one other person, and I worked alone in the basement office. Vault doors would open by themselves, and this spirit which I believe to be a male spirit use to play with my soda bottles, he loved to release the air and make the sound. Then there was the alarm… Yep that was his favorite thing to play with. I am shocked that he never actually set it off. He only came out to “play” when there were just a few of us. Oh he loved making the sound of your cell phone ringing while you were going to the bathroom! He was well known by the employees there who had worked late at night. He had a light playful spirit. The first time he started to play with the vault door, I walked over and opened it for him, telling him “here let me help you with that.” He answered “Thank You” as a wind blew past me. From then on I was his favorite play mate at night. I could feel his laughter has he would let the fizz out of my soda. I also seem to be an magnet for spirits.

I too have trained dogs, so I really enjoyed what you have written. At some point I want to be come certified in Reiki. I have wanted to do this for 3 or 4 years now, but have not had the time.

    Peace and Harmony,
    Sallyjane
